Google + Adding Value To Your Businesses?

By Navneet Kaushal

Within less than a month into the launch of Google + project, it seems like everyone these days wants to get on it. It has seen a mind blowing 10 million users already and growing by the second as we speak. At the rate it is going, it seems a great possibility that it will get at par with Facebook soon

Google+ and your Businesses:

All of their features, Circles, Hangout, Sparks, Huddle etc. sound good for the users for now, however, how do go on about optimizing it for business purposes? The plain truth is, at the moment they are not very business friendly. Currently, you can only sign up to the services with your Google ID. Your work ID, it's won't work. Christian Oestlien, from Google sheds light on Google's prospective strategies, "Right now, we're very much focused on optimizing for the consumer experience." However, they are "building a similarly optimized business experience for Google+." Apparently, it will help integrate your business oriented Google services such as AdWords etc.

To that end, Google has launched an experiment called Google+ Entity Profile, it is currently encouraging businesses to fill out a form to participate in their small experiment. According to Google it sets out "to see the effect of including brands in the Google+ experience." If you wish to participate in his experiment why not fill out their form to show interest.

Apart from the lucky few businesses participating in the experiment, for most businesses the burning question is, how soon will your businesses be able to start optimizing it? At the moment, Google are not confirming any specific time frame. However there are speculations that it could be sometime by the end of this year.

Until then…

Your business can still avail it services, it'll just have to be in a smarter way. Motor giant Ford has already done so. They made use of the Hangout feature, by hoisting a Hangout for the users following a press conference. Whilst Google says it is still not apt for business socializing, it's tough to imagine others won't follow the suite.

To pull all these loose ends together, Google + does come across as an interesting tool in increasing your businesses social presence. However, until Google allows you to use your businesses accounts, its full optimization will not be possible. So, hang in tight, lets hope, the experiment results are positive and soon your businesses will be able to use Google +'s complete services.
